After a successful run with a Pete Rock team up mixtape (80 Blocks from Tiffany’s II), Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede are back at it with a new offering. The cut is called “Bright Lights” and is right in line with the sound that catapulted Camp Lo to the head of the pack back in 1996 when “Coolie High” made the “Great White Hype” soundtrack worth buying. Melodic bells and chords drive this updated, 70’s style track with a groovy bass line somewhat reminiscent of Deniece Williamss “Free.” “Bright Lights” is everything that you missed about 90’s hip-hop an everything that you look forward to from the upcoming, Ski Beatz produced, Camp Lo full length project “Ragtime Hightimes.” Peep the Mills Miller helmed video below and form your own opinions. I dare you to try to only listen to it once. And of course as always, don’t forget to leave your comments. Enjoy!
